Yallamundi is an upcoming light rail station on the Parramatta Light Rail, serving the Sydney suburb of Rydalmere, and Western Sydney University's Parramatta Campus. Prior to January 2020, it was served by the Carlingford line of the Sydney Trains network.

History[]

Rydalmere station originally opened on 20 April 1896 as Victoria Road. It was renamed Rydalmere on 1 August 1901. The station was originally located on the western side of the line. It was replaced by a new station on the eastern side over the former goods siding on 28 June 1993.

Light Rail Conversion[]

The original Rydalmere station closed in January 5 2020, as part of the Parramatta Light Rail project. The station has been demolished and is now being rebuilt with two side platforms as a light rail stop. In November 2022, the station was renamed to Yallamundi, the Dharug (Indigenous language from the Sydney region) word for "storytelling", honouring the station's close proximity to Western Sydney University's Rydalmere campus.

Sydney Metro West[]

During planning for Sydney Metro West, Rydalmere was announced as a possible station, between Parramatta and Olympic Park. On 21 October 2019, 7 other stations were confirmed, with a direct route shown between Parramatta and Olympic Park. A diversion across the river via Rydalmere was still shown as a possible route. On 30 April 2020, all station locations were finalised, with the Rydalmere diversion removed.
