History[]
The station was opened on 1 February 1889 with one platform. On 18 December 1891, the station was converted to an island platform with the addition of a 2nd platform.[2]
On September 15th 2007, an 18-year-old man died in hospital after being struck by a freight train in the early hours of the morning, when he fell from the platform of the station.[3]
In April 2010, work began on a new Commuter Car Park via the Transport Access Program. The station saw three levels of parking with approximately 300 additional spaces, including 17 accessible spaces, lighting, and CCTV surveillance. The upgrade was completed in April of the following year.[4]
