Wollongong railway station is a station located on the South Coast Line. The station consists of 2 platforms, in a double side formation. Access to the station is provided from Station Street and Railway Station Square. Located on the eastern side of the station is Wollongong Bus Interchange.
Wollongong serves as an intermediate terminus on the South Coast Line. The station serves many local attractions of the Wollongong CBD, including Wollongong Central Shopping Centre.
History[]
Wollongong station opened on 21 June 1887 as a temporary terminus of the Illawara Line. It has been overhauled many times, not enough to fit into this page. The line extended to Kiama and Port Kembla years later.
