Werris Creek is a regional railway station located on the NSW TrainLink Regional North Western line. The station consists of 2 platforms in an island formation. It serves the town of Werris Creek. It was formerly a major railway hub.
History[]
The original Werris Creek station was short lived and was located approximately 500 metres south of the current junction. When the line going to Gunnedah opened, it was necessary for the station to be relocated closer to the branch. The new station platform was completed in 1879. It wasn't until 1885 that the station's building and refreshment room were completed. In 1912, addidtions to the refreshment room were made. In 1925, a second storey was added to the station building. [1]
The station building was extended in 1939. [2]
The station was added to the NSW State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. On 1 October 2005, an Australian Railway Monument opened at the station.[3]

Werris Creek has a single island platform formation. The station is very wide, so the platforms are spaced quite far apart.
Services[]
Werris Creek station is served by the Northern Tablelands Express Xplorer every day going from Sydney to Moree and Armidale and back. The station is a branch point, where the line separates. The Moree and Armidale services are part of the same train until they get to this station, where the train divides, whereas the sydney services heading away from Armidale and Moree combine. The Sydney and Armidale services depart platform one, whilst the Moree service departs platform two.
