Turrella railway station is on the East Hills line of the Sydney Trains network. It serves the suburb of Turrella. Station entry is accessed through stairs from an overpass on Turrella Street, near Hannan Street.
Turrella is staffed from 6:00am to 2:00pm on weekdays only.[1]
History[]
Turrella station opened on 21 September 1931 when the East Hills line opened from Tempe to East Hills. In 2000, as part of the quadruplication of the line between Wolli Creek and Kingsgrove, through lines were added on either side of the existing pair.
Configuration and Services[]
There are several sets of points to the east of Turrella that allow westbound trains to terminate on platform 2 and for trains to switch between the express and local tracks. The terminating crossover is used when the East Hills line is closed for trackwork.
There is one island platform serving the local tracks (inner pair). Usually there is a stopping T8 Airport and South train every 15 minutes in both directions.
