Thornton railway station is a station located on the Hunter line. The station consists of 2 platforms in a double side formation. It serves the suburb of Thornton.
History[]
The station opened as Woodford on 1 August 1871. It was renamed Thornton in 1887 to avoid confusion with Woodford railway station on the Blue Mountains line. [1]
On 10 February 1913, the station was relocated to its current site. In 2001, a new footbridge was installed. [2]
