I find the description of the articulated trams as having 5 carriages gratingly wrong. They are NOT separate cars. It's single articulated car. The CESLR does not run 10 car trains it runs 2 car trains consisting of 5 module articulated trams.
The official documents for both the Variotram and the CAF Urbos 3 refer to the sections as modules. They are 5 module trams not 5 carriage trams. (I can't say what Alstom say in their operational manual as I have not personally seen one).
