Southern Cross Station serves as the southern terminus for the NSW TrainLink Southern line Victoria branch. It is located on Spencer St between Collins St and La Trobe St, at the western end of the Melbourne CBD. The station consists of 16 platforms over 8 Islands and is a major interchange for commuter, intercity and regional services in the state. All regional and interstate trains within Victoria terminate at Southern Cross Station, with metropolitan services terminating at Flinders St Station. Southern Cross is connected to Flinders St via the Viaduct.
NSW TrainLink runs two daily services between Southern Cross Station[1] (Melbourne) and Central Station (Sydney). Northbound services departing Southern Cross Station are 624, departing at 08:30; and 622 departing at 19:50. Southbound services departing Central Station are route 623 departing 07:40, and 621 departing 20:41. All services depart and arrive at Platform 1, located underneath the Bourke St Footbridge. Access to Platform 1 is via the green gates on the Spencer St Concourse or via Platform 2A and 2B.
NSW TrainLink has an office at the station, staffed between 07:30 and 20:00. The office is located on the Spencer St Concourse underneath the Bourke St Footbridge, across from Platform 1 and next to the Luggage Hall. The office has timetables and information for NSW TrainLink services from Melbourne to Central Station (Sydney), Canberra, and Brisbane. For information relating to services within Victoria, the PTV Hub is located further down the station near the Collins St end of the Concourse.
