Singleton railway station is a station located on the Hunter Line. The station consists of 1 platform in a side formation. It serves the suburb of Singleton. The station is also included as a stop on NSW TrainLink's regional service to and from Armidale and Moree.
History[]
Singleton station opened on 7th May 1863. [1]
The line at Singleton was duplicated in 1951, however the station did not receive a new platform, which is normally required. This makes Singleton the only station on the NSW network to only have one side platform on a duplicated line. The last ever Australian steam-hauled passenger train departed from this station in 1970. The station was added to the NSW State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. [2] [3]
In the early 2010's Singleton received a station upgrade as part of the Transport Access Program to improve accessibility. Part of the upgrade included improved ramp access. Work commenced in late 2012 and was completed in February 2013. [4]
