Quirindi is a regional railway station located on the Main Northern railway line, serving the North West Slopes town of the same name. The station consists of 1 platform in a side formation.
History[]
Quirindi station opened on 13 August 1877, when the line was extended from Murrurundi. [1] It was the terminus of the line until it was extended to West Tamworth on 14 October 1878.
The station platform was extended in 1908 and again in 1930. [2]
The station was added to the NSW State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. [3]
Configuration[]
Quirindi has a passing loop, as well as a siding. There is a single platform facing the main line only. There is another grain siding around 1km to the north of the station.
Services[]
Quirindi station is served by the Northern Tablelands Express Xplorer every day going from Sydney to Moree and Armidale and back. The Moree and Armidale services are part of the same train, until they get to Werris Creek, where the train divides (or combine if heading towards Sydney). The Sydney service departs at 11:31am, while the Armidale and Moree services depart at 2:37pm. [4]
