Normanhurst is a minor station on the Main Northern railway line of the Sydney Trains network, serving the Sydney suburb of Normanhurst. The station has a footbridge in the middle, connecting the 2 side platforms to Malsbury Road and Denman Parade. There are also lifts on each side of the footbridge.
Normanhurst is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays only.[1]
History[]
Normanhurst station opened on 21 November 1895 as Hornsby. On 1 May 1898, it was renamed Normanhurst to avoid confusion with the present day Hornsby station, then known as Hornsby Junction.
As part of the Transport Access Program, in March 2013, construction began at Normanhurst on a Transport Interchange Upgrade. Improvements included upgraded road pavement at bus stops at Denman Parade, upgraded footpaths, new bike racks and new blisters at the existing pedestrian crossing. Construction spanned 3 months and concluded in June 2013.[2]
Another new accessibility upgrade that provided features such as 2 new elevators that connect the footbridge to the street and a new entrance to Platform 1 started construction around late 2020 and finished during June 2023.[3]
