Newcastle Interchange is a railway station located in the Newcastle suburb of Wickham, New South Wales. It serves as the terminus of the Hunter Line and the Central Coast and Newcastle Line. The station is the main hub for transport in Newcastle. The station also has a café, named "The Foodary", which is where passengers can get and top up their opal cards.
History[]
The station opened on 15th October 2017 as part of the "Revitalising Newcastle" program, an initiative to bring people back into the Newcastle CBD. In February 2019, the heavy rail station became an interchange with the light rail stop of the same name when it opened on the Newcastle Light Rail line. The route has 6 stops and runs to Newcastle Beach, near the location of the former Newcastle railway station.
