Mortdale railway station is on the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line of the Sydney Trains network. It serves the suburb of Mortdale. Station entry is accessed via a set stairs and lift each at Pitt Street and Coleborne Avenue.
Mortdale is staffed from 6:00am to 10:00pm everyday.[1]
History[]
Mortdale station originally opened on 20th March 1897, as part of the Illawarra Line extension from Hurstville to Sutherland. The station was moved to its current site on 14th September 1922. Located south of the station is the Mortdale Maintenance Depot.
Configuration[]
Mortdale station is located between Pitt Street and Coleborne Avenue, with station entry accessed from both of said streets. The entrances include stairs and a lift, connecting to a footbridge where another set of stairs and lift takes passengers down to the platform below.
The station platforms are are at street level, and consists of a single island platform. Mortdale Maintenance Depot is also located on tracks branching south-east from the station, near the main tracks. The platform is also covered by a canopy to allow shelter from sun and rain.
Platforms and Services[]
On weekdays, Mortdale is primarily serviced by Waterfall services and Cronulla services with all-stations stopping patterns. On weekends, all T4 services to and from both Waterfall and Cronulla stop at Mortdale.
