Miranda is a railway station on the Cronulla branch line of the Sydney Trains network, serving the Sydney suburb of the same name. Station entry is from stairs and a lift on Kiora Road, which the line crosses over just west of the station. Located near the station is the Miranda Bus Interchange and Westfield Miranda.
Miranda is staffed 24 hours everyday.[1]
History[]
Miranda station opened on 26 December 1939 when the Cronulla line opened from Sutherland to Cronulla. It initially had a goods siding, which opened in 1940 and closed in 1949.
On 15 July 1985, the line between Gymea and Caringbah was duplicated with a new track laid north of the existing single line, with the platform converted to an island platform.
In 2008, the entrance and underbridge was reconstructed, making the station wheelchair accessible.[2]
In 2014, a new station canopy was installed at Miranda as part of the Transport Access Program to provide better protection for customers against rain and sun exposure.[3]
