Leura railway station is a station located on the Main Western railway line. The station consists of 2 platforms, in a single island formation. Access to the station is provided from Leura Mall.
History[]
Leura station opened on 6 December 1890. It closed on 16 July 1891 but then reopened on 22 October 1891.
On 14 April 2014, a blind man travelling with his guide dog fell onto the tracks at Leura, unaware of the short platform. It was reported that there were no announcements made about this, nor was there any short platform information for Leura on the TfNSW website, however this cannot be confirmed.
Platforms and Services[]
Leura has a single island platform, facing both tracks of the Main West Line. It is served by NSW TrainLink's Blue Mountains Line, which are usually hourly in both directions, with more services during the peak.
Both platforms are around 186m long, which is 5m shorter than an eight-car V set. As a result, all 8-car V sets stop at Leura with the first door off the end of the platform. To simplify SP codes, Leura is marked as SP6 (short platform - alight from rear 6 cars).
