Leppington railway station, is the western terminus of the South West Rail Link on the Sydney Trains network. It serves the suburb of Leppington. Station entry is from Rickard Road, with stairs and lifts connecting between street level, the station concourse and platforms.

Leppington is staffed from 6:00am to 10:00pm everyday.[1]

History[]

Leppington station opened on 8 February 2015, and is one of the newest stations on the Sydney Trains suburban network. 850 commuter car park spaces are also available adjacent to the station.

Although it is the last station on the line, the line continues west for a short distance to Leppington Yard (also known as Rossmore Yard). This yard has 10 tracks, with capacity for 20 eight car suburban trains, along with 2 shorter sidings for track machines. The yard is also a crew base, supplying trains and crew for Sector 2 (comprising all the City Circle lines and the T5 line).

A new car park is being planned at Leppington, as part of the government's $3 billion Infrastructure and Job Acceleration Fund. [2]

Platforms and Services[]

Leppington has two island platforms with four faces. It was built with this many platforms in preparation for future extensions of the line towards Western Sydney Airport. Trains can terminate on any of the four platforms.

Initial services consisted of a half-hourly shuttle to Liverpool. On 13 December 2015, T2 South Line (now renamed Leppington Line) was extended to serve the station and the shuttle was withdrawn. T5 Cumberland services were added on 26 November 2017. The station usually received 6 trains per hour, with less on weekends and late nights.
