Kootingal is a station on the Main Northern railway line. Two NSW TrainLink Xplorer trains stop at the station each day, one towards Armidale and the other towards Sydney. This is part of the NSW TrainLink Regional North Western line service.

History[]

Kootingal railway station opened on 9th January 1882 as Moonbi when the line was extended from West Tamworth. It temporarily served as the terminus of the line, until it was extended to Uralla on 2 August 1882. On 20 April 1914, the station was renamed to Kootingal, the station's current name. [1]

Configuration[]

Kootingal consists of a single side platform on the main line, with a passing loop and siding. All points are manually operated.

Services[]

Kootingal station is served by the Northern Tablelands Express Xplorer every day going from Sydney to Armidale and back. The Sydney service departs at 10:09am, while the Armidale service departs at 3:58pm. [2]
