Kirrawee is a railway station on the Cronulla branch line of the Sydney Trains network, serving the Sydney suburb of the same name. Station entry is from an overpass on Oak Road.

Kirrawee is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays, and 8:00am to 4:00pm on weekends and public holidays.[1]

History[]

Kirrawee station opened on 16 December 1939 when the Cronulla line opened from Sutherland to Cronulla. The station consisted of a single side platform in a cutting with stairs up to the Oak Road overpass in the middle. In 1954, there was a holdup, and a young man stole ₤43.

The station was rebuilt as part of the duplication of the remaining single track sections of the Cronulla line under the Rail Clearways Program. Work commenced in late 2007 and was completed in April 2010. The platform east of the overpass was demolished, being extended to the west and turned into an island platform by widening the cutting. The original platform remained as platform 1, with the new platform named platform 2.[2] As the station was rebuilt, lifts were added to meet DDA requirements.

Platforms and Services[]

Kirrawee is served by Sydney Trains T4 services, usually with four trains per hour in each direction.
