Katoomba railway station is a station located on the Blue Mountains line. The station consists of 2 platforms, in a single island formation. Access to the station is provided from Bathurst Road and Goldsmith Place.
Katoomba serves as an intermediate terminus for some Blue Mountains line services.
History[]
The station opened as Crushers on 2 February 1874, and was renamed Katoomba on 9 July 1877.[1]
At 9:00am on 11 March 1881, a passenger train collided with a goods train at the station. There were no deaths, however, there were some serious injuries.[2]
The present island platform was built in 1891 for a cost of £6,922. The platforms were extended in September 1898, August 1901, and again in November 1907.[3]
