Serving the suburb of Pyrmont, it is located under an apartment complex in a deep cutting between John Street, Harris Street and Harvey Street. The stop consists of 2 side platforms.

Services

John St Square is served by regular L1 Dulwich Hill line trams in both directions. There is a crossover east of the stop for westbound trams to terminate. This crossover is used by overnight shuttle services running between The Star and Central.
