Ingleburn railway station is on the Main Southern railway line of the Sydney Trains network, serving the Sydney suburb of the same name. Station entry is from Ingleburn Road and Stanley Road.
Ingleburn is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays, and 8:00am to 4:00pm on weekends and public holidays.[1]
History[]
Ingleburn station opened on 19 August 1883. An additional platform was opened in 1891 when the line was duplicated.[2]
A crossover to the north was added in 1915 to allow trains serving the Ingleburn Army Camp to terminate. Another crossover to the south was added in 1965.[3] A few trains continued to terminate at Ingleburn until the early 2000s. The points are now only used during emergencies, being locked in the normal position at other times to allow automatic signal operation.
An additional track was opened to the west of the station in 1995 as part of the Glenfield - Ingleburn passing loop. This unelectrified track was used by freight and long distance passenger trains. In December 2012, the track was incorporated into the Southern Sydney Freight Line and became freight only.
In April 2014, a major upgrade commenced. This will include lifts being installed at the south end of the station and a new structure on Platform 1. Construction was completed in September 2015 and was part of the Transport Access Program.[4]
Since the second half of 2017, Ingleburn railway station has been served exclusively by the Airport and East Hills line, meaning commuters have to change at Glenfield to travel to either the city via Granville or to Blacktown via the Cumberland Line.
