Helensburgh railway station is a station located on the South Coast Line. The station consists of 2 platforms, in a single island formation. Access to the station is provided from Wilsons Creek Road.

The loading gauge of the line changes south of the station. Trains in the wide width classification cannot pass this point. The line near the station is mostly through deep cuttings, so it is subject to landslides during heavy rain. There are monitoring systems in the area for this.

History[]

The original Helensburgh station was in the different location - between two tunnels. It was first shown in the timetable on 1st January 1889. It was moved to its present location on 30th May 1915 as part of the Helensburgh deviation, which was built to reduce the steep gradients on the original line.

Platforms and Services[]

Helensburgh has one island platform, with two crossovers to the north of the station. The station is a major stop for South Coast line trains. There is also one terminating T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawara Line service on weekday afternoons, which returns to the City.
