Heathcote railway station is on the Illawarra railway line of the Sydney Trains network. It serves the suburb of Heathcote and is located near the Princes Highway.
Heathcote is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays, and 8:00am to 4:00pm on weekends and public holidays.[1]
History[]
Heathcote station opened on 9 March 1886 as Loftus station when the Illawarra line was extended from Sutherland to Waterfall. The station was later renamed Heathcote and a new Loftus station was built further north.
Upgrades to the station, including a new footbridge with lifts, were completed in January 2017. The contract for these upgrades was awarded in July 2015.
Configuration[]
Heathcote station is located between Wilson Pde and Princes Hwy, with exits and commuter carparks on both sides. Originally, the double side platforms were accessed from street level, with ramps and a footbridge connecting the platforms. In 2017, a new footbridge across both platforms and Princes Hwy was opened. The new footbridge has lift and stair access.
