Parramatta Harris Park Merrylands

Harris Park railway station is located on the Main Western railway line and is 22.5km from Sydney CBD.[1] It serves the suburb of Harris Park and southern Parramatta. The station consists of 2 islands (forming 4 platforms) with access from side paths on both sides of Station Street, which connect to a lift accessible footbridge. Harris Park is serviced by T1 Western, T2 Inner West and T5 Cumberland line trains in both directions.

Harris Park is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays only.[2]

History

Harris Park station opened in the late 1800s. Originally built as two side platforms, both were rebuilt as island platforms during the quadruplication of the Granville to Westmead line in the mid-1980s. On 2 November 1996, the Harris Park to Merrylands Y-Link opened allowing direct train operation between these two stations by what is now known as the Cumberland Line.

On 30 June 2013, a landslide occurred and a retaining wall collapsed in heavy rain, burying one track and partially covering platform 4.

Upgrade

An accessibility upgrade, including lift access to the station, was announced in 2015. The upgrade also added family accessible toilets, lighting and CCTV to boost access and security. The upgraded station opened in July 2018 and was part of the Transport Access Program.[3]

Platforms and Services

Harris Park is serviced by T2 Parramatta services on weekdays only. On weekends, the station is serviced by T1 Western Line trains to and from Penrith, with Richmond services continuing to bypass. Harris Park is also served by all T5 Cumberland Line services to and from Schofields and Liverpool/Leppington.
