Flemington railway station, is on the Main Suburban line of the Sydney Trains network. It serves the suburb of Homebush West. A wheelchair accessible footbridge connects the two island platforms to the main entrance on The Crescent and to Sydney Markets, also known as Paddy's Markets Flemington.

Flemington is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm everyday.[1]

History[]

Flemington station opened in 1884. On 25 May 1924 it was relocated further west to its present site when the Main Suburban line was quadrupled from Homebush to Lidcombe.

From 1923 until 1972, extensive cattle yards existed opposite the station. This was redeveloped as the Sydney Markets in 1975. It included railway sidings for produce trains. These have since been decommissioned. When Enfield Yard was closed for redevelopment in the mid-1990s, the sidings became a locomotive changeover point for freight trains.

In December 2014, scoping began for an upgrade to the station. This upgrade included the installation of lifts, making the station wheelchair accessible.

Configuration[]

Flemington has two island platforms. The northern island (1-2) faces the main tracks, while the southern island (3-4) faces the suburban tracks. There are a further two freight tracks to the north of the station.

Platforms and Services[]

Flemington is served by Sydney Trains T2 services. There are 4 trains per hour (tph) in each direction on weekends, boosted to 6tph on weekdays.
