Five Dock metro station is an upcoming station on the Sydney Metro West line of the Sydney Metro network in Sydney, Australia. It will service the suburbs of Five Dock, Rodd Point and Russell Lea. The station will be located on both sides of Great North Road, at the intersection of Great North Road and Second Avenue.
Construction[]
The following is the construction timeframe for stage one works: [1]
- Enabling and demolition works: Q4 2021 - Q1 2022
- Cut-and-cover shaft excavation: Q2 - Q3 2022
- Station cavern excavation: Q3 2022 - Q4 2023
Configuration[]
Five Dock will be a fully underground station, with the platforms approximately 30m (~10 storeys) below ground level. It will be constructed as a mined cavern, which means a small shaft will be dug vertically down and then continued sideways to form the station. It means that not all buildings directly above the station will need to be demolished. Five Dock is the only station on this line to be constructed this way. All other stations will be constructed using the cut and cover method.
