East Maitland railway station is a station located on the Hunter Line. The station consists of 2 platforms in use and one closed platform that was once used for the Morpeth line in a two island formation. It Maitland Grossman High School and the western portion of East Maitland, although many head to the close-by Victoria Street Station for more frequent services
History[]
East Maitland station has been in four locations over the years. The original station opened on 5 April 1857, and closed in March 1858. That station later reopened as Victoria Street railway station, which is still in service today.
The second station was opened on 27 July 1858 not far from the existing station precinct. The third station opened as Morpeth Junction in 1864. It was renamed East Maitland in 1879 and was closed in 1914.
The fourth and current site was opened on 14 June 1914, when the third site was closed. The station was added to the NSW State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999. [1]

East Maitland's 3rd Platform was the start of the branch line to Morpeth, from around the time the current site opened to 31st August 1953. The platform, although unused now, is intact and in good condition.
