Dulwich Hill is a station on the Bankstown railway line of the Sydney Trains network, located in the suburb of Dulwich Hill. The station has entrances from Wardell Road, Ewart Lane and Bedford Crescent, as well as a connection to Dulwich Hill light rail station.
Dulwich Hill is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays only. [1]
History[]
Dulwich Hill station opened on 1 February 1895 as Wardell Road when the Bankstown line opened from Sydenham to Belmore. It was renamed to Dulwich Hill on 1 July 1920.
To the north of the station, lie two tracks that are part of the Metropolitan Goods line. Opposite the platform lay a triangular junction that connected the Metropolitan Goods line to a branch to Rozelle. This was removed in October 2012 for the conversion of the Rozelle line to light rail.
The station has two platforms in an island platform configuration. The station buildings date from 1935 and are heritage listed.
Sydney Metro conversion[]
Dulwich Hill will be converted to a metro station as part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project.
A new accessible concourse was built west of the original Wardell Rd entrance, with entrances on Bedford Crescent (the current light rail entrance) and a new pedestrian plaza near Ewart Lane. Original plans were to demolish the original entrance, but it was retained.
The platform will also be resurfaced and platform screen doors will be installed. The original plan also included platform straightening, however mechancial gap fillers will now be installed instead.
Works began during the winter 2021 school holiday closure, with the new concourse opened in late 2023. The station will close in mid 2024 for final conversion works.
Platforms and Services[]
Dulwich Hill is served by all stations services on the T3 Bankstown line, at a frequency of 4 trains per hour in each direction at most times.
