Clyde is a minor station on the Main Suburban line, serving the western Sydney suburbs of Granville and Clyde. It is served by Sydney Trains' Western, Inner West & Leppington services.
Clyde station opened in 1882 as Rosehill Junction. It was renamed Clyde on 19 August 1883, Clyde Junction on 1 August 1901, and back to Clyde in April 1904. The station was rebuilt in 1959.
On 17 November 1888, Clyde became a junction station with the opening of the Carlingford line to Rosehill, operating services from platform 1. This platform became permanently disused in January 2020, due to the closure of the Carlingford line for partial replacement with light rail.
Configuration[]
Clyde has 6 platforms in a three island configuration. Stairlifts are fitted on all platforms at Clyde, however it is not marked as an accessible station.
There are significant railway facilities to the east of the station. On the north side of the running lines is a large freight yard used by Pacific National and a rarely used Sydney Trains turnback. On the south side is Auburn Maintenance Facility (AMF) and Auburn Stabling Yard (ASY), both large yards used by Sydney Trains.
Platforms & services[]
There are 6 trains per hour in each direction on weekdays, reducing to 4 per hour on weekends. Since it is so close to Granville station, all trains are scheduled to stop at Granville and Clyde on the same minute.
On weekdays, Clyde is serviced by T2 Parramatta all-stations services. On weekends, it is serviced by T1 Western Line trains to and from Penrith only.
