Kogarah Carlton Allawah

Carlton railway station is on the Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line of the Sydney Trains network. It serves the suburb of Carlton, and the nearby suburb of Bexley. Station entry is accessed through two entrances on Carlton Parade and Railway Parade, both consisting of stairs and lifts to access the concourse. The concourse also has two more sets of stairs and lifts to access the platforms.

Carlton is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays, and 8:00am to 4:00pm on weekends and public holidays.[1]

History

Carlton station opened in 1889 with two platforms. As part of the quadruplication of the Illawarra line, a second island platform was added in 1925. In January 2008, Carlton received an accessibility upgrade, with new lifts installed at the station.

Carlton is the closest station to Jubilee Oval, with most Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink services making an extra stop here during St George Illawarra Dragons (NRL) and Sydney FC (A-League) home games.

Carlton is the second-last suburban station on the Sydney Trains network to receive the new orange Sydney Trains coloured signs. The last station to receive them will be Rooty Hill on the Western Line, which will get the new signs after its station accessibility upgrade is completed.
