Capitol Square Light Rail Station is the second stop on the L1 Dulwich Hill Line from Central.
It is located on Hay Street in Haymarket, adjacent to the intersection with George Street. The stop consists of 2 side platforms.
Location[]
The stop services the Capitol Square precinct, including Capitol Theatre, as well as the Chinatown precinct. Connection is available to the L2/3 City and Southeast Line at the nearby Chinatown LR station.
Just west of the stop (at the George St intersection) is the connection to the L2/3 tracks that was built for maintenance access. This is also the point where trams can be loaded or unloaded from trucks when they are being delivered or scrapped. This is because there is plenty of space at this intersection for an oversize truck to maneuver.
Service[]
The stop receives regular L1 services running between Central (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill. During trackwork, as there is no convenient location for a bus to stop nearby and it is only a short walk to Central, passengers are directed to join replacement buses at Central.
The stop has Opal validators and a single (phase 2, card only) topup machine.
