Turrella Bardwell Park Bexley North

Bardwell Park railway station, is on the East Hills railway line of the Sydney Trains network. It serves the suburb of Bardwell Park, as well as the nearby suburbs of Earlwood and Bardwell Valley. The sole station entry is a set of stairs from an overpass on Hartill-Law Avenue.

Bardwell Park is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays only.[1]

History

Bardwell Park station opened on 21 September 1931 when the East Hills line opened from Tempe to East Hills. In 2000, as part of the quadruplication of the line between Wolli Creek and Kingsgrove, through lines were added on either side of the existing pair.

On 22 April 2015 the station suffered significant flooding due to inclement weather, with the flood water nearly reaching the height of the platform. A time lapse video of CCTV from the station was released publicly showing the rising flood water, as seen here.

A Sydney Trains Waratah A set, A29, was caught in the floodwaters. The water came up to almost door level, causing several electrical components underneath the train to be damaged. A29 was transferred to Cardiff for repairs, before returning to service 6 months later.

Platforms and Services

The station has a single island platform, serving the inner (local) tracks. All stations services on the T8 Airport & South line stop at Bardwell Park, usually with one train every 15 minutes in both directions. Express services pass through on the outer (main) tracks without stopping.
