Auburn is a station on the Main Suburban railway line of the Sydney Trains network, serving the Sydney suburb of the same name. Station entry is from an accessible subway with exits to Rawson Street and South Parade.

Auburn is staffed 24 hours everyday.[1]

History[]

Auburn station opened in 1877. The station was rebuilt in 1913 and again in 1954 when the line was quadrupled. To the west of the station lies UGL Unipart (formerly Maintrain), Auburn Maintenance Centre and a Pacific National depot. Located south of the station is Auburn Central shopping centre.

The station's 1954 Auburn Railway Signal Box is listed on the New South Wales Heritage Register. The signal box still stands west of the station, near UGL Unipart.

In 2013, a Transport Interchange upgrade was performed as part of the Transport Access Program. Improvements included upgrading the Northumberland Road ‘kiss and ride’ facility and a new weather wall at the South Parade bus stop.[2]

Platforms and Services[]

Auburn is serviced by T2 Leppington services 7 days a week, and T2 Parramatta services on weekdays only. On weekends, the station is also serviced by T1 Western Line trains to and from Penrith, with Richmond services continuing to bypass.
