Mount Colah Asquith Hornsby

Asquith railway station is located on the Main North railway line in the northern Sydney suburb of Asquith. It is currently served by trains on the North Shore line of the Sydney Trains network. A few Central Coast trains stop for the convenience of schoolchildren. Asquith has two side platforms which can accommodate 8-car intercity trains.

Asquith is staffed from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and is unstaffed on weekends and public holidays.[1]

History

Asquith railway station opened on 1 November 1915, in conjunction with a land development by R. Halloran & Company. It was named after the then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Herbert Henry Asquith, Earl of Oxford and Asquith. Asquith was the last railway station to open between Hornsby railway station and the Hawkesbury River.

In 2017, Asquith underwent a transport access program. Many things improved, such as 42 parking spaces, 2 accessible parking spaces close to the station, a new walkway between the car park and the station and new lights and CCTV cameras.[2]

The station is served by two trains per hour each way, with additional trains during weekday peak hours.
