Carlton Allawah Hurstville

Allawah railway station is on the Illawara railway line of the Sydney Trains network. It serves the suburb of Allawah, and northern parts of Hurstville. The station has two island platforms, with an overhead concourse connecting the platforms to entrances on Carlton Parade and Railway Parade. The station has lift and stair access to all entrances and platforms.

Allawah is staffed from 6:00am to 7:00pm on weekdays, and 8:00am to 4:00pm on weekends and public holidays.[1]

History

Allawah station opened on 25 October 1925 on the same date that the Illawarra line was duplicated. It consists of two island platforms with an overhead concourse and ticket office at the northern end. The original brick station buildings were demolished in the 1990s and replaced by lighter passenger shelters.

In 2004, lifts were installed at Allawah station, making it wheelchair accessible. Additional shelters were also installed on the platform to encourage passengers to spread out along the platform during wet weather.

In October 2011, Allawah received another upgrade, which included changes to bus stops and pathways, bicycle racks, a new "kiss and ride" drop off zone and more. This upgrade was part of the Transport Access Program.[2]

Platforms and Services

The station has two island platforms, numbered 1-2 and 3-4. Platforms 1-2 face the Illawara Local tracks, while 3-4 face the Illawara (Main) tracks. Allawah is served by all-stops trains on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawara Line. Express trains pass through without stopping.
