Albion Park railway station is a station located on the South Coast Line. The station consists of 2 platforms, in a double side formation. Access to the station is provided from Princes Highway.
History[]
The station was opened on 9 November 1887 as Oak Flats with one platform and was renamed to Albion Park in 1888. [1]
In 1926 the original platform received a brick extension. On 2 April 1999, the station was added to the NSW State Heritage Register. [2]
In 2001, the line from Dapto to Kiama was electrified. A second platform was built that included awning and a waiting shed. This was to increase capacity and to provide a crossing point for trains. [3]
In November 2012, work commenced on a transport interchange upgrade at Albion Park as part of the Transport Access Program. Improvements included redesigning the ramp on the western side of the station, providing a more user-friendly bicycle parking facility and providing a formalised 'kiss and ride' area for passenger pick up and drop off. The upgrade was completed in April 2013. [4]
